After the jet lag

For the past two days, there isn't any progress on actual work yet as people are still experiencing jet lag. The programme has helped in such a way that we do not jump right in into creating the game but we are given lectures tagged with activities to work amongst our development team to create a "product" of the given topic. Such topics include photo storyboarding, branding, IP(Intellectual Property) rights as well as brainstorming.

We were issued ID cards to enter the GAMBIT Game Lab and the developments teams have their own rooms to work with. The working environment is condusive and is well-equipped with the technology needed and relevancy to the game consoles and working style. If not mentioned, we are working on a scrum-like process and would have to submit our builds at the end of every sprint which each sprint is a week. Excluding this week which work would not be must touched on except concepts and ideas, the next 8 weeks would be divided into 8 actual sprints. Each sprint should be a process of many processes of playtesting the game or refining the game. This may vary in the amount of time the processes are carried out in different development teams but everyone has a goal in mind - to create an awesome game in 8 weeks.

The experience for me in the development team is pretty enjoyable so far. Through sessions with the team, I have learnt that my team is a very diverse group of people who has special sets of skills. As a QA(Quality Assurance) Lead in my team, I would hope that the testing of the game runs smoothly but most of the time that wouldn't happen. The point of the scrum-like process is to test many times over to check that everything is working on each test, if not change them.

The team's current goal is to get pass the green light which would be discussed tomorrow on the final concept to work on and we are ready to roll. So till tomorrow, I would have to read up the handout on QA again to get myself prepared.
